A screening consists of a call back by the admin staff to understand your needed level of care, get a sense of your therapeutic preferences, and provide information in terms of office policies (billing, scheduling, etc.), informed consent (a client’s bill of rights unique to confidentiality and HIPAA laws), and therapist availability.
To help facilitate the process of seeing if therapy is right for you, after the screening, you will be booked with a 15-minute consult with a therapist. We offer a free consult at Eastside Insight because ample research shows that skill, knowledge, and expertise are secondary in terms of therapeutic success, as the biggest indicator of change comes by way of the relationship itself. Moreover, it is a costly experience, both in terms of time and money, for therapists and clients alike, when it is decided after an intake, or in the first couple of sessions, that the therapy and/or the therapist is not a match, so a free consult helps to avoid this issue as much as possible. If you are accepted as a new client, then your therapist will notify the admin staff to reach out to you to start the registration process.
All therapists carry a full client case load, and so work on reoccurring appointment slots. This means that if a therapist has an opening, then you will be booked in the next available spot in 1 to 4 weeks, during a agreed upon time. The registration fee reserves your place and provides you with a client portal to complete the registration process, where you will set-up your demographic profile, (address, emergency contact, provide payment info, etc.), and gain access to several forms that await your completion, all of which can be filled out electronically. You will receive an email from Therapy Appointment 2.0 with a link (expires in 48-hours) to “Create A User Name and Password” for your Client Portal. Please have these done 24-hours prior to your first appointment. These forms will be reviewed at the beginning of your first session, but should you need clarification before then, you can call Eastside Insight and speak to the admin staff who can help you navigate this process.
