PCS | Practice • Care • Service

We provide psychotherapy within our organization’s Parameters of PCS

  • Scope of Practice
  • Level of Care
  • Needs of Service

These domains have been defined in the next segment of this page, followed by how they apply to Ei.

PCS Website Directories: Clicking on each picture of the individual letters below will also provide a corresponding outline of where these parameters can be found.

The P of PCS (Practice, Care, Service) as displayed on white canvas with a grey capital P.

SCOPE OF PRACTICE

SCOPE OF PRACTICE

SCOPE OF PRACTICE

Each therapist’s areas of education, work experience, types of therapy trained in, and licensure for providing therapy in various presentations and severity of mental health.

The "P" of PCS

We are fully licensed trauma & general practice therapists with backgrounds in community, hospital, and private healthcare sectors, trained in evidence-based practices and technical eclecticism, and providing diagnostic and procedural psychotherapy services to individuals, couples, families & groups.

The C of PCS (Practice, Care, Service) as displayed on white canvas with a grey capital C.

LEVEL OF CARE

SCOPE OF PRACTICE

SCOPE OF PRACTICE

The intensity of effort and skill displayed in the therapist’s scope of practice while providing psychotherapy appropriate to the client's service needs.

The "C" of PCS

We provide prompt, curated therapeutic services, in collaboration with clients, and other professionals (when indicated), for clients who can engage in treatment plans with consistent and/or weekly sessions, towards on-going progress and resolution of therapy goals.

The S of PCS (Practice, Care, Service) as displayed on white canvas with a grey capital S.

NEEDS OF SERVICE

SCOPE OF PRACTICE

NEEDS OF SERVICE

The resources and aids required of the Organization to provide services that are based on an individual’s presentation and level of care needs.

The "S" of PCS

We are an outpatient psychotherapy private practice supporting a Self-Pay/Out-of-Network pay model and provide Fee-for-Service booked reoccurring appointments. We have customized our EMR with telehealth capability and integrated billing practices so that you access invoices and superbills, update or select a payment, send secure messages to your therapist, reschedule appointments, and electronically sign documents all from an encrypted client portal.

I know, feels cringey right.  We're supposed to make ourselves look good and not talk about the things we cannot do, especially not on our About Page!  Well we certainly considered it, but alas, here we are...

In getting on with it then, we do not offer psychotherapy for various client presentations, or provide therapy and professional services in certain sectors because they fall outside of our PCS for one or more of the following reasons:

P - Outside Therapist’s Scope of Practice.

To see a list of what these presentations are, click on the action button below

Outside of Scope

C - Diminishes Level of Care We Can Provide

Either by: creating legal concerns in terms of dual relationship, compromise client reporting of symptoms and severity, limit therapist confidentiality, create a conflict of interest in terms of the therapeutic relationship, and/or can decrease motivation in terms of working through the presenting concerns with the methods being taught in therapy.

  •  Legal Cases (Divorce, Custody, etc.)
  •  Mandated Clients
  •  Active Physical or Sexual Abuse

S - Service Needs Exceed Our Resources

This applied to those in need of: in-patient or partial hospitalization (PHP), residential or substance abuse treatment, intensive outpatient program (IOP), or who would be better served by a managed care organization with wraparound services and higher numbers of staff.

Our organization does not provide acute crisis services or long-term case management for severe & persistent presentations, as we do not have the ability to offer walk-in appointments and other wrap-around community supports appropriate to these service level needs.

  • Exceptions: Click tab below to learn more.

Coordinated Care Exceptions

OTHER EXCLUSIONS

The items listed below are not therapy services but rather professional aids that can be provided when clinically indicated.  These aids though also create complications to the therapeutic care, for the same reasons stated at the start of this page, and which is why these are exclusions of service.

  • Emotional Support Animal (ESA) & Psychiatric Service Dogs (PSD)
  • Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) for mental illness

Exceptions: After 25 or more sessions, Ei will take into consideration exceptions for FMLA, ESA, and PSD under the following parameters.

  • FMLA: If this exception is deemed clinically indicated, Ei will send a referral, requesting FMLA to the patient's already established medical and/or psychiatric provider, who will be the practitioner ultimately responsible for authorizing and filling out the paperwork.  FMLAs authorized by psychotherapists have far less legal standing for patients, even if the issue is mental health in origin, and so this policy is in protection of the patient.

  • ESA & PSD: There is the additional requirement of seeing clients with their pets in session for a period of time to assess if the animal is providing emotional support and to rule out if there is unaddressed separation anxiety and distraction behaviors via the attachment to the animal.
