Ancillary Costs

Costs are based at the rate of a standard psychotherapy session and prorated in 15 minutes increments. These services pertain to on-going client management needs outside of session (not related to scheduling and billing), and may include phone therapy, review of medical records from a third party, care conferences, letters and forms written on your behalf, as well as off-site representation, etc. 

In order to avoid dual relationships and conflicts of interest, Eastside Insight does not take mandated clients or those seeking behavioral health services for legal cases. If, for any reason, the therapist is requested in a legal matter, the party responsible for this involvement agrees to reimburse for all work related to participation (i.e., travel, court testimony, written affidavits, etc.) at time and a half of the therapist’s hourly rate.

Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) allows for reasonable cost-based fees for providing medical records to patients (45 CFR 164.524(c)). These fees, as they apply to Washington state, are set forth below: 

RCW 70.02.010(37) allows health care providers to charge fees for searching and duplicating health care records. The fees a provider may charge cannot exceed the fees listed below:

(1) Copying charge per page:

(a) No more than one dollar and seventeen cents per page for the first thirty pages;

(b) No more than eighty-eight cents per page for all other pages.

(2) Additional charges:

(a) The provider can charge a twenty-six dollar clerical fee for searching and handling records;

(b) If the provider personally edits confidential information from the record, as required by statute, the provider can charge the usual fee for a basic office visit.
